Troop Committee Chair

  • Calls and runs Troop Committee meetings
  • Recruits Committee members
  • Manages re-chartering process
  • Ensures adequate and competent adult leadership

Advancement Chair

  • Works with Scribe to maintain advancement records
  • Arranges Boards of Review
  • Maintains current merit badge counselor list
  • Submits advancement reports to Council
  • Works with Librarian to maintain library of merit badge pamphlets

Recruiting Chair

  • Maintains relationships with Cub Scout den leaders
  • Maintains contact list of Webelos Scouts and their parents
  • Works with Troop leadership to ensure frequent, high-quality recruiting events throughout the year
  • Develops recruiting materials promoting Troop 23

Treasurer

  • Handles all Troop funds;  pays bills on the recommendation of the Troop leadership and through the authorization of the Troop Committee
  • Maintains bank accounts
  • Works with Scribe to maintain records
  • Reports on overview of Troop expenses and income
  • Alerts Troop Committee to issues of finances and non-payment of fees

Equipment Chair

  • Works with Quartermaster on inventory and proper storage of Troop equipment
  • Procures camping equipment on the recommendation of the Troop leadership and through the authorization of the Troop Committee
  • Makes periodic safety check on all camp gear

Transportation and Camping Chair

  • Coordinates transportation for Troop events
  • Maintains records of drivers and vehicles and submits tour permit applications
  • Helps in securing permission to use camping sites

Fundraising Chair

  • Works with Troop to coordinate holiday greens sale and other fundraising events
  • Motivates Scouts to participate in fundraising
  • Develops materials to make fundraising events successful
  • Works with Treasurer to ensure proper accounting for all events involved in fundraising

Training Chair

  • Ensures that Troop leaders and Troop Committee members are adequately trained
  • Is responsible for BSA Youth Protection training within the Troop
  • Encourages junior leader training within the Troop

Communications and Public Relations Chair

  • Works with Webmaster to keep Troop Website up-to-date
  • Coordinates with adult leaders to create photos and images of Troop activities
  • Works with local media to get periodic, favorable coverage of Troop activities

Summer Camp Chair

  • Encourages Scouts to attend summer camp
  • Maintains calendar for registration and payment to ensure Troop meets all summer camp deadlines
  • Submits Troop registration for summer camp
  • Coordinates adult supervision and transportation for summer camp
